I was looking through the birthday function on livejournal because it's late (or early, depending on how one were to look at it) and I'm bored. Two people on my list share a birthday with me! [info]supercrush and [info]etc. Odd, since I grew up thinking that, while there are a ton of December birthdays, not many people shared the actual date.

Revolutionary Art Thing
April 12-16

This year, WSAC's Revolutionary Art Thing will focus on music and social
justice. During the week of April 12-16 we will have a series of events
examining the power of music in social change. All events are free unless
otherwise noted.

Lecture by Gwendolyn Pough, U of M faculty member, who recently published:
"Check it While I Wreck It: Black
Womanhood, Hip-Hop Culture, and the Public Sphere." Professor Pough will
address "the ways in which Black women use the counter-public sphere of
hip-hop culture to claim a voice for themselves and influence the ways in
which Black women are represented in the male dominated space of Hip-Hop
culture and the larger US society."
